Prof. Rozenn Le Parc from Université de Montpellier will hold a seminar on functional organic-inorganic hybrids: a vibrational approach of the structure-properties relationships

ABSTRACT – Controlling the structure and the morphology of organic inorganic hybrid  is a key element for the design of new functional materials. For bridging silsexquioxanes of interest, synthesized though a bottom up approach, the fine analysis of the structural self assembling mechanisms involving H bonds is performed through infrared spectroscopy on one hand. On the other hand, these materials can be designed for hosting luminescent ions such as lanthanides. Combining vibrational and luminescence spectroscopies, we can identify the structural organization around luminescent ions which can offer the highest efficiency.
